About Dakota Cabins
Dakota Cabins is a Georgetown, Texas-based builder specializing in tiny homes and park model cabins. We produce both custom homes and repeat production units, completing most phases of construction in-house.
We are growing our production team and are seeking a dependable, skilled leader who wants to build a long-term career with Dakota Cabins. This is a permanent position supporting our ongoing custom and repeat-production work.
Position Details
Location: Georgetown, Texas
Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Compensation: $26–$35 per hour
Reports To: Production Manager
Position Summary
The Production Lead is a hands-on, working supervisory position responsible for directing the day-to-day construction of Dakota Cabins units. This is a “bags-on” role: the Production Lead is expected to perform construction work alongside the crew while providing direction, maintaining production standards, and ensuring assigned work is completed safely, correctly, and efficiently.
The Production Lead is responsible for the performance and output of the assigned crew and for ensuring that production work meets company expectations for quality, safety, workmanship, and schedule.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and work alongside an assigned production crew.
- Organize daily work and clearly communicate priorities and assignments.
- Ensure the crew understands the plans, specifications, and expected sequence of work.
- Perform hands-on construction throughout the workday.
- Monitor production progress and keep assigned work moving efficiently.
- Read plans, verify dimensions, and identify conflicts before they result in delays or rework.
- Maintain company standards for workmanship, fit, finish, and overall quality.
- Inspect completed work and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
- Train and coach crew members in construction methods, safe tool use, and company expectations.
- Monitor employee productivity and address performance or workflow problems.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used safely and responsibly.
- Identify material shortages, damaged components, equipment problems, and other production concerns.
- Communicate progress, delays, staffing needs, and production problems to the Production Manager.
- Coordinate with other onsite personnel and available support resources as necessary.
- Maintain an orderly and safe work environment.
- Adjust work assignments when production needs or priorities change.
- Perform other construction and production duties within the general scope of the position.
Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in residential construction, carpentry, cabin construction, remodeling, or a related field.
- Previous experience directing or supervising a small construction crew is preferred.
- Ability to lead employees while remaining personally productive throughout the workday.
- Broad working knowledge of residential construction methods and sequencing.
- Ability to read plans, verify measurements, and recognize construction conflicts.
- Ability to maintain quality and productivity without constant supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Clear and direct communication.
- Dependable attendance and consistent follow-through.
- Willingness to work across multiple phases of construction as production needs change.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and responsible use of company resources.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to work from ladders and elevated surfaces.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in an active shop and construction environment.
- Ability to work around dust, noise, power tools, construction materials, and changing temperatures.
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment.
